Philosophy

It is the goal of the Big Apple Day School to provide a loving, caring, environment where children can develop a good self-image and establish positive and sound inter-personal relationships. We understand that each child is unique; and we respect his/her needs, desires, and thoughts.

Our staff has the patience to work at the child's own pace and tempo; yet, with our individualized educational plan we will attempt to "stretch the mind" in a simulating, challenging and responsive way. Pressure is avoided. Learning is fun!

Experienced teachers, many with children of their own, make up our staff along with assistants.

Our staff sets up necessary limitations for behavior and helps children internalize rules for safety, sharing and cooperating. We stress the importance of self-respected and respect for others.

Structured and non-structured activities are interspersed; creativity is fostered and freedom to explore our varied materials is encouraged. Indoor and outdoor play is balanced.

As educators, we know that play is the "work" of childhood
